All of Your Questions Answered: Will UPI Work? What About Fastag?

It appears that Paytm’s difficult journey—which began when the RBI penalized the company—is coming to an end. After a request from One97 Communications, the parent firm of Paytm, last month, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) granted TPAP certification to the company. What effects does this have on consumers and retailers, though?

Comprehending TPAP

According to a recent notification from the NPCI, Paytm can now serve as a Third-Party Application Provider (TPAP) for UPI transactions, guaranteeing consistency for consumers using the app to make UPI payments.

As Paytm‘s Payment System Providers (PSPs), four major banks—HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), and YES Bank—will work together. Additionally, YES Bank will act as the bank that acquires merchants for both current and potential UPI users. As a result, to ensure smooth transactions and auto-mandates, the old “@paytm” UPI handle (VPA) will switch to YES Bank.

Because of partnerships with Axis Bank, Paytm’s other services, such as merchant QR codes, will continue to function in addition to UPI. This implies that Paytm soundboxes and QR codes will keep enabling transactions all around India.

FASTag and Other Services: What’s Up?

Some features, such FASTag services, will remain available after March 15, even though Payments Bank services will stop operating after that date. With collaborations with other banks in the works, HDFC Bank will now be in charge of FASTag services.

On March 15, nevertheless, FASTag services provided by Payments Bank will end. There will be no impact on other services, such as recharges, reservations for tickets, bill payments, gold transactions, and more.

Paytm services will carry on as usual after March 15. Although there have been some unsubstantiated speculations, there have been some reports regarding possible interruptions to Paytm services. Paytm has made it clear that all of its services—including Fastag and UPI, or the Unified Payments Interface—will continue to run without any problems.

UPI Services: After March 15, Paytm’s UPI services will continue to be available. Using the UPI feature in the Paytm app, users will be able to transfer money, make payments, and carry out other activities.

Fastag:  a system for electronically collecting tolls on highways, will also keep operating properly via the Paytm platform. Customers are still able to track transactions, reload their Fastag accounts, and easily navigate toll booths.

Other Paytm Services: Apart from UPI and Fastag, there won’t be any changes to any of the other Paytm services. These include digital wallet transactions, online shopping, bill payments, and mobile recharges.

It’s crucial to remember that Paytm has put strong security measures in place to protect customer information and guarantee the dependability of its services. Because their accounts are safe and their transactions are secure, users can continue to use Paytm with confidence.

In conclusion,

After March 15, there won’t be any modifications to the Paytm services. Users may continue to benefit from the convenience and dependability of the Paytm platform for their digital payment needs, and they can anticipate having continuous access to all functionalities, including UPI and Fastag.
